Trophy Camp

The idea was brought by one of WTO's most successful trophy hunters — to offer one camp to target only a specific age class of deer and restrict the size of deer taken. Having one camp for the true die hard — go big or go home empty style of trophy hunters. The main goal of this camp is to protect younger bucks with great genetics so they can grow into their true potential.

The idea is for hunters to make this an annual trip. We will give you the first chance to hunt the same week the next year and every year until you give up your spot. We feel this will help the excitement of passing on younger deer, knowing you will be the one hunting them the next season.

We will rotate our other six camps on their same rotation, hunting two of them per year. But, we are going to hunt trophy camp each season, limiting this area to 6 hunters per year. Low hunting pressure combined with selective harvesting will improve the quality of bucks with each season.

There is a 140" minimum score for this camp. Each hunter will pay an extra $500 dollars upon arrival to hunt trophy camp. If you take a buck over the 140" minimum, you get your $500 back. If you do not take a buck, you also get your $500 back. The only time you do not get it refunded is if you decide to take a buck which scores under the 140" minimum.

Score will be based on total gross score. No side-to-side deductions will be taken, just total antler.

Any animal that is hit is considered a kill and that hunt is over. Every reasonable effort will be made to recover all animals.

We ran this hunt for the first time in 2009. After some cancellations, we only ended up hunting it for one week. Both hunters passed on some great deer and on the last morning of the hunt the largest buck of our 2009 season was taken, scoring 167 3/8"

We are excited about this new concept of hunting. We feel this camp will add some extra excitement to the true trophy hunters out there, and help you harvest one of the giant whitetails that this region is famous for.
